LEGO® Billund Airport (400016): There’s Only One Way to Get It!

LEGO® Billund Airport (4000016) is an exclusive LEGO® Architecture styled Special Edition set. Designed by Lennart Cort, this set is only available in the LEGO® Store of Billund Airport which is located in the non-public departure area of the airport. Because of this, only passengers who leave Billund by plane are able to buy it.

The set has 281 pieces in total und will cost 54 euros (399,95 dkr/68 US-Dollars). In addition there is a limit of one or two sets per passenger. Another interesting detail: The production of LEGO® Billund Airport (4000016) has been limited to 10,000 sets, so it’s really rare.

Designer Cort is 28 years old and lives about 15 km from Billund. He works as a salesman in the LEGO® shop at the Billund Airport and he will sign your copy after purchase if you like. An avid AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego), Cort built his own version of the Billund Airport, and when LEGO decided they wanted to have their own official LEGO® Billund Airport, the airport CEO sent pictures to LEGOs CEO Jorgen Vig Knudstorp.

This photo was taken at a special event at Billund Airport. LEGO® owner Kjeld Krik Kristiansen and Billund Airport CEO Kjeld Zacho Jørgensen handed one of the first LEGO® Billund Airport (400016) sets over to Lennart Cort.

The rest as they say is history.
